Licensing standards

Over the years, I've reciprocated in several states, some with continuing ed laws and some without. There were none in any state when I first earned my license.

In principle, I appreciate anything that raises industry standards, but the way the laws are implemented in some states it becomes nothing more than a cash generator for technical shcools and unscrupulous 'educators' and a burden on state licensing agencies. Worse, the courses are often nothing better than remedial repetition (not that some don't need that).

I've often thought it might be good to see federal licensing instituted to replace the state run systems, but on the other hand the convenience of not needing to go through reciprocation on a state by state basis wouldn't be worth the bureaucratic headache.

What do you pros think
